Children’s Farmers Market Walk and Cooking Demo

In the spirit of Ratatouille, the animated classic about a rat who wants to become a chef, our children’s program has to do with teaching children about farm fresh ingredients and how to cook. In conjunction with the Boulder County Farmers Market and Seeds Library Cafe, this brief class involves a farmers market walk to learn about ingredients and a cooking demo and tasting. Chef Matt Collier of Seeds Library Cafe will lead the class.
The class will meet at the Boulder Farmers Market information tent. It will immediately precede our free screening of Ratatouille at the Boulder Public Library.

Ratatouille is an animated comedy about a rat that wants to be a chef and allies himself with a kitchen worker at a famous Parisian restaurant to do so. Part of our 5th anniversary classic food film series.
An Evening with Jeremiah Tower
7:15 pm to 9:45 pm, with Jeremiah Tower: The Last Magnificent screening

Our evening with Chef Jeremiah Tower at the Boulder Public Library will start with an appearance by the James Beard Award-winning chef at a sparkling wine reception from 6:15-7:15pm that is open to Sour Grapes and Jeremiah Tower ticket holders. It will continue with a screening of Jeremiah Tower: The Last Magnificent, a documentary that examines his life and influence on American cuisine. Tower will introduce the film. After the screening, Amanda Faison, the former 5280 Magazine food editor, will interview him and he will participate in a Q&A session.

Big Night by Day: Via Perla Luncheon

Pepperonata and sliced local melons, and eggplant, pepper and tomato Caponata
Wine pairing: Collazzi Chianti Classico “I Bastioni” (3oz)–Ruby red color, notes of cherries, and classic Italian spices. Complex and structured with silky tannins
Wine pairing: Cusumano Nero d’Avola (3oz)–With the Timapano being a southern Italian dish, Peg Romano, Via Perla ower, wanted to use a southern style wine.The Nero d’Avola is a plush dark ruby/purple color. Lush and smooth on the palate. Notes of dark red fruits, black cherries, and plums ease into a lingering finish with focused tannins.
Wine pairing: Graham’s LBV Port (2oz)–Graham’s 2011 LBV has a deep opaque ruby colour. On the nose it is brimming with layers of dark fruits combined with floral hints of fresh mint. On the palate it is full-bodied with flavours of cassis and demons
