Farm tour: While touring the farm with Black Cat chef/farmer Eric Skokan and produce maven Deborah Madison, you can see firsthand and learn about the vegetables, heirloom wheat, and pork that served at Black Cat Bistro, Bramble and Hare, and the Black Cat Boulder Farmers Market booth. You may even see skittering piglets if the timing is right. Even if there are no piglets, you will be able to view and ask questions about Black Cat Farm’s heritage breed Mulefoot pig herd.
Cuisine: Enjoy the acclaimed cuisine of Black Cat. It doesn’t get any more farm-to-table than this three-course meal with hors d’oeuvres. Quench your thirst with complimentary beer and wine. CLICK HERE to see the dinner menu!

Entertainment: Live music from Live Bluegrass from Bianca Bentz and Thomas Webster will greet you and get you into the dinner mood. Spice It Up: Private after hours spice-tasting party for 20 with six bottles of paired Bookcliff Vineyards wines to enhance the party. Savory Spice Shop will provide an array of appetizers and treats featuring their fabulous spices and a tour and information about them.
Taste and Be Merry: Private guided culinary excursion for six with founder and owner Megan Bucholz for an exclusive tasting at three downtown Boulder establishments on a progressive dinner tour. Must be 21+ to attend.
Knife Skills are Life Skills: Element Knife Company will help you out in the kitchen with a chef’s knife, paring knife, and personal 1.5 hour lesson on knife skills in your home with Element Knife Company owner and Sasa Sushi Chef Elan Wenzel. Element Knife Company offers high-end cutlery, sharpening stones and accessories.

Deborah Madison is the James Beard Award-winning author of classic vegetarian cuisine cookbooks, such as The Greens Cookbook, The Savory Way, and Vegetarian Cooking for Everyone. She has cooked at Chez Panisse and was the founding chef of the Greens restaurant in San Francisco. Prior to the Black Cat Farm dinner on Wednesday, July 12, Madison will also sign copies of her new cookbook at both the Boulder Book Store and the Boulder Farmers Market.
First, on Wednesday, July 12th, at 12:30 pm, the Boulder Book Store will host a book signing with Deborah Madison. Madison will speak and sign her new cookbook, In My Kitchen: A Collection of New and Favorite Vegetarian Recipes. Alfalfas’s Market, a co-sponsor of the event, will provide refreshments made from her new cookbook. $10 vouchers are necessary to attend, and are good for a $5 discount on Madison’s new cookbook. Vouchers can be purchased now at the store, over the phone, or at the door.
Later that day, from 4-5:20 pm, the Boulder Farmers Market will host another book signing with Deborah Madison. Black Cat Farm-Table- Bistro will provide a dish from Madison’s new cookbook for sampling. There will be copies of In My Kitchen: A Collection of New and Favorite Vegetarian Recipes available for purchase.
