Colorado and its cities have long fought to prove itself among flashier and bigger cities to the nation while defining itself to a hungry scene of locals with eyes wide open for what we have to offer for meaningful food. As a young and still blossoming state, what it misses in centuries’ old pockets of traditions, it shines with entrepreneurial cities and vast horizons cultivated by the collaborative spirit that residents proudly claim Coloradan.
In 2019, The Denver Post journeyed behind the scenes with a local farmer, chef, cheesemaker, and butcher to open a window onto the growing landscape and identities of Colorado food culture. The result is The Colorado Plate film series with its four short films of exemplary food artisans.
Following are the films for this program.
- Farmer Eric Skokan, Episode 1
- Cheesemaker Jackie Chang: Episode 2
- Butcher Kate Kavanaugh, Episode 3
- Chef Duncan Holmes, Episode 4
Amy Brothers will introduce the film. A discussion with Jackie Chang, Kate Kavanaugh, and Eric Skokan will follow the showing. Linnea Covington will moderate.
